Khushwant Singh (1915–2014) was a renowned Indian author, journalist, and lawyer, best known for his wit, satire, and bold writing style. Born in Hadali (now in Pakistan), he studied at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, and King’s College London. He began his career as a lawyer but later turned to writing and journalism.

Singh edited prominent publications like The Illustrated Weekly of India and Hindustan Times. His works often explored themes of Partition, politics, religion, and human nature. He received the Padma Bhushan in 1974 (returned in 1984 during Operation Blue Star) and was later awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2007.
